In Poland, gambling is not uncommon and is
quite widespread as it is not tightly
regulated by the government. Casinos exist
in the country since the late 80s. However,
they were kept low profile until the 90s
when they became extremely popular amongst
the people in the country. In 1992, some
regulatory laws were passed where there is
restriction of the number of casinos and
gambling machines that can be allocated in a
town based on its inheritance. In towns with
lesser that 50,000 populations, gambling

as the government does not issue licenses to
these companies. Furthermore, the government
has imposed a ban on foreign online gambling
sites. However, the ban is rather loose and
not strict; hence, the Polish players are

Until recently, the Polish government has
come to the awareness that huge amount of
money has been spent on internet gambling.
Hence, they are considering offering
licenses for operation of such sites.
Furthermore, casinos in Poland are also
fighting for the rights to offer their
services online. Until early 2009, the
negotiations are still being carried out.
